What is the Chaser 3XE?
The Chaser 3XE is an incredibly versatile three-person tent that offers plenty of options for sleeping under the stars with or without a view. It features an adaptable pitching system and packs down small and light for easy transportation.
What is it made of?
Flysheet: The flysheet comprises HydroTex® NRS-T, a robust, highly UV-resistant 20D ripstop nylon. It's incredibly lightweight yet durable enough to survive abrasion in rougher environments. The outer face of the material is treated with silicone, and the inner is PU-coated to provide a 2000mm hydrostatic head rating - in simple terms, making it completely waterproof! Seams are also taped to ensure no leakage occurs when the heavens open, assuring you'll get a dry night's rest.
Inner tent: 20D nylon B3 mesh offers protection on the inside from creepy crawlies without compromising ventilation. It's incredibly light and breathable yet durable to survive regular use in the wilderness.
Floor: 20D nylon ripstop goes under your feet to protect you from the damp ground. This material has excellent abrasion resistance to suit various terrain, which could be reinforced by placing a footprint or even a piece of tarp underneath. It has a PU-coating to support its waterproof properties and overall durability.
Poles: The poles are made using alloy, which has been anodised to increase corrosion resistance and overall durability for keen campers to get the most out of this tent!
What are its features?
As mentioned, the entire mesh inner optimises ventilation for humid summer evenings under the stars.
A flat pole sleeve allows easy pole threading while reducing the volume of the design to help reduce wind resistance. Alloy pole-tension links allow you to connect the poles and tent and put it under tension to create a sturdy structure.
Two-way zip curves on the door provide versatility and allow you to unzip around the top area for additional ventilation when needed.
The FlexPitch system and Inner Ring Suspension give you various options when pitching the flysheet and setting up the inner - you could keep the inner exposed when it's hot for some bug-free sky gazing or have the flysheet covering just half of the mesh. If you were wondering, a FlexPitch system diversifies the tent setup, allowing you to use it for a broader range of weather and activities. It consists of the inner tent alone for midge-free views, a half flysheet set up using the inner for partial weather protection and maximum ventilation, a full flysheet setup for complete security or even the flysheet only to create super lightweight shelter. The Inner Ring Suspension features rings on the inner that allow you to connect poles and flysheets depending on how you want to pitch your tent.
Low vents create additional airflow, should you need it - ideal for humid conditions and for preventing condensation from building up inside.
A gear rope on the inner helps keep the flysheet in place and reduce weight, while the inner door storage pocket allows you to keep essentials within reach.
This tent also comes with a flysheet fabric repair patch for emergencies, so you're not left with holes in your tent in the middle of your trip.
