What is the Vault Duo?
It's a reliable two-person tent designed for four-season adventurers who want to get out, whatever the weather. The Vault Duo is the perfect tent for backpacking and multi-day trekking, providing a stable space for sleeping and relaxing at the end of a hard day on the hill.
What is it made of?
Flysheet: The flysheet is crafted using Watershed® material, first developed by Terra Nova in 1992. Watershed® uses a specialist PU coating that delivers extra hydrolysis resistance, improving overall water resistance and providing additional grip to seam tape to achieve a 100% waterproof seam. It's an ideal fabric to use for expedition and heavy duty tents thanks to its added UV inhibitors and light stabilisers, as these features help to increase longevity and durability of the tent.
Floor: Waterbloc fabrics are Terra Nova's signature tent floor/footprint fabric. Waterbloc is made with nylon and uses a specified PU to create a highly water resistant layer, helping to protect you from wet or damp ground, especially when you're not using a footprint. Nonetheless, we always recommend using a footprint (sold separately) with your tent to help reduce wear and tear so that your tent can last even longer.
Poles: 9.5mm TN Reflex Poles provide a strong and stable foundation for your tent without compromising weight and bulk.
The total weight of the tent is 3.17kg, and if you strip back some of the features, leaving you with a very basic, minimal shelter for adventures where you're counting every gram of kit, this tent can be reduced down to 2.92kg. The total pack size measures around 36 x 20cm. Plus, you can always split the gear between two if you're trekking with a buddy, helping to split the weight and pack size further.
What are its features?
Entry: The main entry point uses a traditional zip fastening and is located at the side of the tent to give you a wider door space, and a much better morning view!
Space: This tent provides ample room for two people, yet could even be used by one person if you'd like a little extra space for your solo over-nighter. Maybe even to make room for a furry friend?
Ventilation: One large roof vent helps to minimise condensation build-up overnight.
Guys, attachments and pegs: The Terra Firma pegs weigh 13g each and are super durable to help keep your tent well-fixed into the ground. The guylines are made from reflective Dyneema cables that are also incredibly strong and provide visibility in the dark.
The tent also comes with a semi-detachable rain hood to provide complete waterproof protection when the heaven's open. The set-up configuration allows for flysheet-first pitching or an all-in-one pitch if you want to keep the inner dry in wet conditions.
