What is the R1 Hybrid Jacket?
It's a hybrid fleece with a lightweight, packable construction designed to provide warmth, comfort, and breathability on the trail. You could also wear this fleece for casual activities and regular daily errands without looking or feeling out of place.
What is it made of?
Patagonia constructed this fleece using different weights of breathable Polartec® Power Grid® fleece and Capilene® Thermal Weight Baselayer material with built-in HeiQ Pure odour control technology.
Polartec Power Grid® fleece comprises polyester and spandex to deliver premium stretch and softness. This material uses a unique, bi-component patented knit that strengthens performance efficiency by increasing both warmth and breathability. The knit uses geometric patterns that help improve packability and moisture-wicking performance, helping to avoid sweat or condensation build-up if you're breathing heavily or working hard.
The Capilene® Thermal Weight Baselayer material provides exceptional warmth and breathability with virtually no bulk, allowing for enhanced mobility and easier layering over this fleece.
HeiQ® Pure odour neutralising technology uses non-ionic, silver-based, antimicrobial odour control and achieves a high antimicrobial efficacy from a low dosage. It allows you to benefit from all the technical material performance without spoiling the fresh mountain air. Plus, it means you can get away with washing this fleece less, meaning not only do you have less laundry to do, but you save more water, too!
This product is also made in a Fair Trade Factory™, giving Patagonia more control of the operations in the factories they choose to work with. Patagonia proudly offers more Fair Trade styles than any other apparel brand in the current market. But how does it work? Patagonia pays a premium for every item made in one of these factories, and this money goes directly to the factory workers. A democratically elected committee of Fair Trade workers will decide how this extra money gets spent in each Fair Trade factory. The program also promotes worker health and safety, and social and environmental compliance, while encouraging healthier dialogue between workers and management.
What are the features?
The hybrid design boosts warmth around your core whilst improving underarm breathability and ventilation to regulate temperature more efficiently. The mixture of fabrics also provides outstanding stretch and increased mobility, especially for reaching overhead, making this fleece ideal for training in the climbing gym or using hiking poles.
Offset shoulder seams feel comfortable underneath a backpack, helping to prevent them from rubbing or chafing.
For storage, you get one zipped chest pocket and two zipped front pockets with air-permeable mesh pocket bags. These pocket bags draw in air to enhance ventilation (when pockets are left open/empty) and help reduce weight. Patagonia has strategically placed these pockets to stay clear of a harness or pack waistbelt.
Two additional interior drop-in pockets also allow you to keep smaller valuables close.
The fleece comes with a slim fit and a low-profile hem and cuffs to allow for easier layering over the top. It features a centre-front zipper and a low-profile zipper garage at the chin which prevents the fastening from pinching the skin.
