What are the Rock DFS GTX?
They're technical, waterproof approach shoes that excel in rocky, mountainous conditions, whether hiking your favourite peak, doing a spot of light climbing or tackling a via ferrata challenge.
What are they made of?
Upper: The upper is made with 1.6mm suede leather with Microfibre and Air8000® technology; this combination of naturally robust suede and microfibre offers excellent durability to withstand rugged terrain. Air8000® technology increases the breathability of the Gore-Tex® membrane by up to 11.5 times, ensuring effective temperature regulation at all times. The lower portion of the shoe is protected by a rubber rand, helping to ensure your feet are kept safe from unintentional strikes on uneven ground.
Membrane: A waterproof Gore-Tex® Performance Comfort lining guarantees to keep your feet dry in all conditions while maintaining breathability.
Midsole: The midsole uses lightweight dual-density EVA & PU; EVA foam provides cushioning, while the PU offers extra durability and support. AKU's built-in ELICA Technology ensures an anatomical fit to provide better stability and weight distribution across the sole, reducing pressure points and encouraging better hiking form.
Outsole: A Vibram® Approcciosa MegaGrip sole on the bottom provides great traction on mountain paths. Megagrip is incredibly sticky and grippy (as the name suggests) and will help to keep you upright when moving across tricky terrain. It has been designed to make quick work of trails whilst also giving you the confidence to smear and edge when the going gets more vertical.
Footbed: The Rock DFS GTX come with a partially recycled Ortholite® Hybrid footbed. These insoles use a patent-pending formulation that combines recycled rubber and production waste foam. This formulation helps to lessen environmental impact by reducing petroleum and energy usage whilst keeping materials out of landfills. They still go the distance, providing fantastic performance and underfoot feel, just with more eco-friendly credentials.
What are their features?
A real party piece of the Rock DFS is the Dual Fit System (DFS), which allows you to adjust the fit to enhance comfort and precision when using the shoes in different environments.
Traditional laces keep things comfortable when walking and on easy approaches, and a fast lacing system helps to increase sensitivity and security when scrambling and climbing.
