What are the Firewall Pants?
The Firewall Pants are what dreams are made of... No, really!
They offer maximum waterproof protection with a flexible stretch to give you the best of both worlds. And that's not all! These trousers are breathable and durable enough to withstand long days on the mountains, yet still, feel comfortable and unrestrictive on technical terrain.
What are they made of?
Constructed with a three layer Pertex® Shield, these pants feel really lightweight yet are fully waterproof, with a Hydrostatic Head rating of 20,000mm.
Pertex® Shield is a lightweight waterproof and windproof fabric that offers a fantastic level of breathability, to help regulate body temperature during intense mountain activity. Pertex® Shield allows you to move fast and stay comfortable without compromise. It's extremely packable, making these trousers a suitable emergency option that you can simply throw in your pack without taking up too much space.
The material is treated with a fluorocarbon free DWR (Durable Water Repellent) for extra reinforcement. Fluorocarbon free DWR's are much healthier for the environment as they do not use any chemicals that harm the environment.
What are their features?
The gripper waistband is part elasticated, offering improved mobility and comfort for long days in the mountains. To adjust the fit even more, the waist can be tightened or loosened with a drawcord - simple but effective!
On each side, you'll find a 3/4 length two-way zip. These openings use reliable YKK® AquaGuard zips, which provide extra protection against wet weather, thanks their taped construction. Each zip has an internal storm guard and triple pullers for additional reinforcement and ease of use.
The knees are articulated, providing a little more freedom around the joints and creating a comfortable feel for steeper ascents and technical inclines.
At the hem of the trousers, a tethered drawcord adjustment gives the option to fit the trousers over various walking boot styles and sizes. There are also under-boot cord attachment loops to help keep everything in place.
How do they fit?
These trousers are made with a regular fit, meaning they offer a little more room for layering underneath and feeling less restrictive overall.
