What are the Croda DFS GTX?
These are crampon-compatible, waterproof mountaineering boots made with reliable Gore-Tex® technology. The Croda DFS GTX are ideal for challenging adventures in mixed terrain, whether rock or ice, and provide ample performance for trekking, climbing and mountaineering.
What are they made of?
Upper: The upper is made with Aramid Fibre Kevlar fabric, providing a balance of form and function. Kevlar® is an extremely strong yet lightweight synthetic fibre that can resist corrosion and heat; it's an incredibly rugged fabric, often used for military equipment, and is perfect for serious outdoor clothing. The upper also has an over-injected spider frame structure to increase abrasion resistance, durability and reinforcement against jagged, rocky surfaces.
Lining: A Gore-Tex® Performance Comfort lining provides ample waterproof protection whilst remaining breathable, helping to prevent sweat and moisture build-up inside the boot. It uses a four-layer laminate construction, including a protective knit layer that feels smooth to the touch.
Midsole: Double-density PU foam enhances comfort and helps to absorb shock and impact when moving on hard ground.
Footbed/Insole: Custom Fit Pro Alum footbeds are designed specifically for technical mountaineering. They copy the imprint of your foot to allow light yet effective thermal insulation with ample heel and arch support for long days in tougher locations.
Outsole: The Vibram® Croda Litebase outsole provides stability, grip and precision for technical terrain and situations. It uses a special slim construction to help keep the boot's weight to a minimum without compromising performance and functionality, helping you to feel confident with each step.
What are their features?
These boots have a built-in Elica Natural Stride System, which is integrated into the boot's last, insole board, midsole and outsole. It ensures an anatomical fit to provide enhanced stability and weight distribution, helping to reduce uncomfortable pressure points and encourage better form as you walk. This anatomical fit will also help to reduce foot fatigue and impact for longer distances, keeping those aches at bay.
A Dual Fit System (DFS) provides a customised and precise fit. It combines a comfort-walking lacing system with a climbing lacing system to wrap the boot around the foot more accurately and maximise support for climbing and scrambling. These laces are integrated into the body of the shoe and increase functionality for multi-activity use. This system also allows you to adjust the fit quickly without retying your laces.
The DFS is protected by an elastic cover, preventing snow and debris from sneaking in through the upper cuff.
The Vibram Litebase sole allows for using both traditional and semi-automatic crampons for icy weather; plus, a rubber rand around the edge of the boot increases durability and helps to protect the sides of your feet and your toes.
