What are the Icarus Hut Boots?
Icarus Hut Boots are synthetic filled, high-top slipper boots ideal for keeping your tootsies warm when camping. They're perfect for bothies, hut-to-hut adventures, or camping in cooler weather, providing plenty of warmth for their weight and grip underneath the foot.
What are they made of?
Montane has used a mixture of recycled materials, including Pertex® Quantum Eco and PEAQ Down Eco with DWR, filled with PrimaLoft® Black ThermoPlume® insulation to construct the boots.
Insulation: Recycled Primaloft® Black with ThermoPlume technology is loose synthetic insulation that mimics down by replicating the lightweight warmth, softness and compressibility. Primaloft® Black with ThermoPlume offers thermal properties equivalent to 550 fill power down.
Synthetic insulation is actually more beneficial than down in certain circumstances, as it doesn't lose heat and loft once wet. Therefore, making this loose synthetic fill extremely favourable as it has the qualities of both.
Outer: The outer is constructed with 100% recycled Pertex® Quantum Eco that feels lightweight, soft and is highly packable so that these slippers won't take up an excessive amount of room in your kit bag! The material is designed to promote the insulation's loft and helps trap air to improve the efficiency and warmth of the boot. The material is treated with a DWR that encourages any spills or light rain to bead off the fabric.
Pertex® Quantum Eco is more sustainable as it is 100% recycled. It utilises recycled yarns to reduce the demand for raw materials.
Lining: The recycled PEAQ Down Eco liner feels soft and smooth next to the skin. It's breathable enough to manage temperature yet durable to ensure heavy use doesn't affect the condition and performance of the slippers overall. It has a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent), which is more sustainable than regular DWR treatments, as it doesn't use any chemicals that are harmful to the environment.
What are the features?
At the top of the boot, the cuff is pre-elasticated to offer plenty of flexibility and movement around the ankle, making them ideal for wearing over chunky socks or tucking your trousers in for maximum warmth.
Toughened side walls help to increase durability, while the non-slip sole gives you plenty of grip under the foot to help prevent slipping on smooth tent footprints or over your sleeping bag. Finally, a rear pull-on loop makes it a little easier to slide these boots on at the end of a long, challenging day in the mountains.
