What is the K7 Jacket?
The K7 Jacket is a technical, insulated jacket designed for winter adventures, whether alpinism, remote arctic journeys, or hardcore expeditions in subzero temperatures. It balances warmth, weight, and mobility exceptionally well for maximum performance without compromise.
What is it made of?
This jacket's outer fabric, inner hem, and hood lining are made with Drilite® Loft 30D, which provides complete windproofness and water resistance. The jacket is filled with goose down with a minimum content of 90/10 800 fill power down.
Can't quite catch the lingo? Here's a quick breakdown...
Goose Down - Goose Down is some of the highest quality down on the current market, as it has a naturally higher fill power than duck down, making this product incredibly warm, light, and efficient, ensuring you get every bang for your buck.
800 Fill power - Fill power measures the warmth and efficiency of the down, alongside its ability to loft/fluff up. A rating of 800 fill power means that 1oz of this down fills 800 cubic inches of space when fully lofted.
Drilite® Loft – Introduced almost 30 years ago, Drilite® Loft was totally ahead of its time. Drilite® Loft is a specialised fabric that offers lightweight, breathable, water-resistant protection. It uses a polyurethane membrane, bonded to the reverse of a 100% nylon face, to exceed a hydrostatic head (HH) of 1500mm, making it ideal for both down and synthetically insulated products, often intended for extreme use and adventures in the depths of winter.
What are the features?
The box-wall baffle construction helps eliminate down migration and encourages an even spread of warmth throughout the entire jacket.
The back of the K7 Jacket and the hood lining features Mountain Equipment's EXL system. First introduced by Mountain Equipment in 1989, EXL technology was designed to provide extra warmth and extra loft; it was a simple but groundbreaking innovation that made sleeping bags and clothing as thermally efficient as possible. Elasticated stitching in the lining of a product adds no weight but minimises dead airspace around the body and pulls the fabric away from the down, allowing it to loft to full effect. EXL remains as relevant to improving insulation in high-performance sleeping bags today as it was nearly 30 years ago.
A full-dome helmet-compatible hood allows you to wear it with a climbing helmet should you need further protection from the weather.
At the front, you'll find a two-way centre front zip for easy access, even with a climbing harness. It's insulated with an internal baffle to help prevent cold gaps from forming at the entrance.
Two zipped hand pockets, a chest pocket, an inner mesh water bottle pocket, and a large mesh zipped inner pocket, which works perfectly for gloves, provide all the storage you need.
Lastly, adjustable cuffs and a dual tether hem drawcord help to seal out the weather without feeling restrictive.
