What is the Oreus Jacket?
The Oreus is a lightweight, windproof, packable Aetherm™ insulated jacket. It's best suited to alpine activities like climbing and backpacking, yet also works well for hiking, fastpacking and mountaineering in certain conditions.
What is it made of?
The jacket's outer and lining are both made with 100% recycled nylon, which is super lightweight and incredibly breathable. Mountain Equipment has treated the outer material with an FC-free DWR (durable water repellent), encouraging light rain and snow to bead away without using harmful forever chemicals.
Groundbreaking Aetherm™ technology is used to insulate this jacket. Aetherm™ is a synthetic insulation made with 100% recycled polyester. It offers an incredible warmth-to-weight ratio comparable to high-performance down yet has the added benefit of being able to retain heat when wet. Furthermore, Aetherm™ lofts incredibly well and can still be packed down small, making it easy to stuff this jacket into a kit bag or backpack without taking up excessive space.

What are its features?
The hood is fully adjustable and helmet-compatible for mountaineering and climbing. The front zip provides two-way functionality, allowing easy access to a climbing harness, and also has a rear insulated baffle running alongside to prevent heat from escaping through the fastening. You can leave the opening partially unzipped to dump heat quickly when working hard.
A Napoleon chest pocket, two zipped hand warmer pockets, and a pleated internal drop pocket provide plenty of storage for small essentials such as snacks, energy gels, a GPS device, or a mobile phone.
Elasticated cuffs and dual tether hem drawcords provide extra flexibility where you need it and cinch the material in to keep the breeze out.
Lastly, this entire jacket is so packable that you can stuff it into its own internal pocket for on-the-go storage. The pocket has twin carabiner carry loops, meaning you could easily attach it to a harness or backpack to keep it accessible at all times.
