What is the Mythic G Jacket?
The Mythic G is an exceptionally warm, lightweight, low-bulk down jacket that is extremely packable, making it perfect for long expeditions when every gram of weight makes a valuable difference. It uses a combination of 1000FP down and heat-reflective TILT technology for a fantastic warmth-to-weight ratio. It’s designed for reliable protection from the elements for mountaineering, alpinism and winter climbing.
What is it made from?
The Mythic G Jacket is constructed using high quality, 1000 fill power down insulation, encased in a 7D Atmos™ Nylon ripstop and heat retention technology.
Insulation: The jacket uses 127g of 1000 fill power, R.D.S Certified European Goose Down, offering maximum loft (fluffiness) and insulation.
European Goose Down is fantastic quality down - it has larger clusters than Duck Down which improves the warmth-to-weight ratio. These clusters are made up of tiny feather strands that trap heat, which is why it's so important to get a quality jacket with a construction that allows its insulation to loft effectively!
Can't quite catch the lingo? Here's a quick breakdown.
Fill power - Fill power measures the warmth and efficiency of the down, alongside its ability to loft/fluff up. A rating of 1000 fill power means that 1oz of this down fills 1000 cubic inches of space when fully lofted. R.D.S - The Responsible Down Standard ensures that the down is sourced from happy birds who haven't been plucked and have been well cared for.
Outer: The outer uses 7D Atmos™ nylon ripstop, which contains incredibly fine yarns and has a densely packed, tight weave to create a soft, windproof layer that protects the down insulation from the elements. Atmos™ fabrics are fast-drying, lightweight, easily packable and highly water-resistant.
The outer shell is coated in a fluorocarbon-free durable water repellent (DWR), which increases the fabric's water resistance, helping to protect the down further. Fluorocarbon-free DWR's are much more sustainable than regular treatments, as they do not use any chemicals that harm the environment.
Lining: The lining uses a 7D Nylon ripstop with Thermo Ionic Lining Technology (TILT), made from 100% polyamide with an aluminium coating. This lining is where this jacket gets techy. It uses body-mapped TILT technology for maximum thermal efficiency.
TILT Technology reduces radiative heat loss by reflecting heat back towards the body for increased levels of warmth. TILT Technology has hugely impacted the warmth-to-weight ratio of the jacket. It can reduce radiant heat loss by up to 15%, which is a significant saving if you're out in freezing temperatures. It's a really efficient way to stay warm without dealing with the bulk of dense, heavy layers. It's a must-have for those planning to tackle the Alps during the winter.
What are its features?
The construction of the jacket uses zoned stitch-through baffles that help to stabilise the down, preventing it from moving and spreading unevenly.
Despite the coat being so warm, it doesn't feel too chunky when worn - so there's no need to worry about resembling the Michelin Man as you venture outdoors. The low bulk helps increase mobility and freedom of movement, as you feel less 'trapped in', making the Mythic G a really versatile piece for your winter outdoor adventures.
The hood is filled with down insulation to keep your tabs from feeling the chill, with a part-elasticated opening that offers extra flexibility as you move whilst providing additional comfort. At the top of the hood, you'll find a lightweight stiffened peak, which protects your face a little more when the heavens open.
At the front, a YKK® VISLON® zip fastens the jacket, which is really smooth and easy to use with gloves or numb fingers if you came a little less prepared. At the top of the zip, a fleece-lined chin guard continues into the hood - it feels super soft and silky on your face, giving a really luxurious feel.
The sleeves are pre-curved and articulated, allowing them to sit more naturally around the arms, making them far more comfortable. These shaped sleeves will enable you to move around without restriction, a fantastic feature for those scrambling or climbing on technical terrain. The cuffs are elasticated, offering extra flexibility around the wrists and closing gaps at the bottom of the sleeves to keep the heat in on windy days..
Two zipped hand pockets provide secure storage for plenty of trail snacks, energy gels, a mobile phone and GPS device, so you don't have to worry about losing them on the mountain.
A single-sided rear hem adjuster allows you to cinch in the jacket around the hips - perfect to keep the weather out and optimise the overall fit. The adjustments feature an anti-snag tether which is more durable to withstand a beating on longer expeditions or in rougher climates.
How does it fit?
This jacket features a regular fit, meaning it has a little room underneath for different layers, allowing you to create your very own effective layering system.
