What is the Neutrino Pro?
The Neutrino Pro has become a modern classic and a benchmark for lightweight performance amongst down mountaineering jackets. It is exceptionally warm, offers durable protection against the elements with minimal weight and pack-size; the Neutrino Pro is one of those jackets that is capable of anything from UK winter walking and mountaineering, winter Alpine ascents or to provide warmth when static in freezing conditions.
What is it made of?
Insulation: Stuffed with 230g of superior European Hydrophobic Goose Down with a very impressive 800 fill power. Rab is now using Hydrophobic down in all their down jackets, basically each and every cluster of down is treated with Nikwax products to make them perform better in damp conditions. Although Hydrophobic down is not waterproof it dries much faster, absorbs less water and retains loft far better than untreated down.
Fabric: The Neutrino Pro is protected by lightweight but tough recycled Pertex Quantum Pro fabric, which offers protection from windblown snow and light rain without adding bulk. Despite the high water resistance of the facefabricthe Neutrino Pro is not totally waterproof, so always pack a shell if, and when, the weather turns really nasty. On the inside of the jacket Rab have used recycled lightweight nylon with a soft smooth finish to allow easy layering and to maximise comfort and breathability. We specified a subtle grey colour to keep the overall looksuperstealthy.
What are the features?
Despite the low overall weight of 585g there is still the usual Rab attention to detail; a proper wired peak to the down-filled hood, an internal zippered security pocket, water resistant zippers on the front and the pockets, making this a really well specified alpine jacket.
How does it fit?
The Neutrino Pro uses Rab’s Regular fit which means that it is tailer to sit close to your body so you don’t have lots of excess fabric flapping around in bad weather, but also has enough room underneath it so you can pop a couple of layers on when it gets extra chilly.
