What is the Belay 120?
It's a warm, durable jacket designed for burly mountaineering adventures and multi-activity expeditions during the winter, constructed with recycled fabrics. It has a refined feature set to keep the weight minimum without compromising function.
What is it made of?
The outer fabric uses 100% recycled polyamide Ripstop weave with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent). It's incredibly durable and can withstand bumps and scrapes on jagged rock and rough surfaces, perfect for tackling challenging multi-pitch ascents in the mountains.
DWR treatments provide light water repellency, encouraging water, rain and snow to bead off the fabric instead of soaking in. However, it does not make the material fully waterproof. If you're looking at a forecast of torrential downpours, you'll undoubtedly benefit from packing a shell layer to wear over the top.
PFC-free treatments earn this jacket some extra eco-friendly brownie points, as they don't use chemicals which cause harm to the environment as a result of them being used/manufactured.
The insulation is also recycled, made from rescued-from-disposal Lavalan Swedish wool. It feels super warm and lofts well to trap as much heat as possible, even when damp. So even if you're not wearing a shell and your jacket starts to wet out, it'll still provide warmth to keep you as comfy as can be.
What are its features?
At the front, the main entry is fastened with a two-way zip, giving you better access to climbing harnesses or providing extra ventilation if you need it.
The Belay 120 has a helmet-compatible hood which is fully adjustable to optimise the fit around different head shapes and helmet sizes.
In terms of storage, there's a sizeable alpine chest pocket for bulkier belongings and an internal stowaway pocket for valuables like a mobile phone, wallet or GPS device. Two large hand pockets are great for keeping headphones, hill snacks, keys or energy gels, which are also lined with soft micro-fleece material, making perfect hand warmers for cold days out when you've forgotten your gloves.
Cuffs and the bottom hem are elasticated to draw in the fabric, improve heat retention and keep the weather out while providing flexibility where you need it most.
Please note: The image on this listing displays blue lining in the jacket, this is incorrect, the lining of the jacket you will receive is red. However, we didn't want to leave you in total darkness about what the exterior looks like, hence why we haven't removed the image altogether! Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
