What is the Downpour Eco Jacket?

The Downpour Eco Jacket does exactly what it says in the name – protects you from Downpours! It is lightweight, versatile, waterproof, and made from recycled materials. The Downpour Eco from Rab is a beautifully made, soft, protective jacket designed for hiking, walking and everyday use. It also packs down into its own hand pocket so it can be stashed in your pack and taken our when the weather changes.

What is it made of?

The Downpour Eco is made using Pertex Shield 2.5 Layer with recycled outer, a fluorocarbon-free DWR, and a recycled membrane. Pertex Shield has a hydrostatic head of 20,000mm with superb breathability and windproofing, thus, you get a jacket that will remain comfortable even in the worst conditions and under strenuous activity.

What are the features?

Starting from the top the jacket features a non-helmet compatible hood that sits snug to your head. The flexible polymer peak helps to keep the driving wind out of your eyes, whilst the adjustment points in the front and the rear allow you to cinch in the hood closer when the wind picks up. Moving down you get a YKK zip in the front that features a storm guard flap to help seal out the elements. At the top of this zip you get a brushed tricot chin guard for a bit of comfort when the zip is done all the way up. The YKK zipped hand pockets are a great place to stash essentials, like gloves or your compass and also feature a storm flap to protect against water ingress. The generously sized pit zips can be undone to help dump excess heat and cool you down when you’re working hard.

To further seal out the elements you get a fully adjustable hem drawcord and velcro adjustable cuffs. The jacket also handily stuffs down into its own hand pocket so you can stash it in your pack on changeable weather days.

How does it fit?

The Downpour Eco features Rab’s ‘Regular’ Fit which means it has enough room for a couple of layers underneath it, without creating excess material that flaps around in the wind.

1Chest

3Inseam

Measure your inside leg from crotch to ankle blone keeping your leg straight: not as easy as it sounds, you could take a pair of trousers that you already own, that fit you well, and measure from the crotch to the bottom of the leg.

4Sleeve

This is a bit more tricky! Measure from the top of your spine (at the bottom of your neck) to your elbow and on the your wrist

5Arm

You should place the beginning of the measuring tape behind your shoulder, and feed it out following your arm making sure to pass both the elbow joint and the wrist, as pictured. You should take the measurement at the point where you would like the sleeve to end. This is usually just past your wrist.
