What is it made of?
40D Ripstop offers durability where you need it most, increasing the longevity of the vest to withstand years of regular use in rugged terrain. It's lightweight and not bulky either, so you won't need to worry about being weighed down - in total, the vest weighs in at just 281g!
Strategically placed Elastic Airmesh panels allow maximum airflow to ventilate the vest during intense activity. It's lovely and flexible and feels smooth and comfy next to the skin, giving total freedom of movement instead of being rigid or restrictive.
What are its features?
The Alpine 12 is a pretty complex piece, with lots of features to delve into, but not complicated.
It sits relatively high when you wear it to lessen the wobble as you run and give you more space around the midsection to breathe and move. The harness feels comfortable and is wide to balance out the weight and stop straps from feeling like they're digging into your shoulders when worn.
For hydration, the Alpine 12 gives you several options. There are mesh pockets on the front that hold soft flasks, and speed bottle fixation if you prefer to carry solid water bottles. The vest is also drinking system compatible. You can easily hook up a hydration bladder and tube to keep your fluids easily accessible and out of the way.
The waterproof pocket gives you somewhere to store valuables that you don't want to get caught in the rain, such as a mobile phone. There are also designated gel pockets to store snacks and energy gels, keeping your fuel within reach for a quick top-up if you feel your leg batteries are running a little low.
A larger zipped pocket on the back makes ideal storage for essentials like house keys or an extra shell layer, reassuring you they won't drop out somewhere along your route.
If you like to use running poles, then you're in luck! This vest has pole fixation attachments to store them when not in use, placed by your sides to prevent them from getting in your way.
Reflective detailing and a built-in whistle give you some additional safety features. You can use the whistle in an emergency, should you ever need to - three long blows on your whistle is the universal signal for help, although hopefully, we'll never need to use it!
