The Megamat sleep mat is the comfiest air bed you will ever sleep on. It was originally intended for expedition and basecamp uses because of its great thermal properties, however, because this mat is so comfortable van owners and glampers have found it too comfortable to resist. This new version is wider yet again to fit two people comfortably.
This particular model is the Medium version, sporting a slimmer body and a shorter length, so it's more likely to fit in a van! The original Megmat Duo LW (long wide) is simply too wide to fit between the inner wheel arches, therefore this medium option will allow you to use in a van, in a tent or even at home. This mat should also fit a little better into most two-man tents (always check tent and van measurements before purchasing).
It’s super soft,slip-resistant, backed by an Airblock PU film to guarantee leak-proof performance and this updated model is now even more durable than before with its new nylon face fabric. Exped have filled this gorgeous camp bed with 10 centimetres of ultra-lightweightopen-celledPU foam that have horizontal air channels which reduces the weight without sacrificing thickness or comfort. The welded 3D construction means that the MegaMat remains comfortable right up to the edge, so no matter how much you roll around you always be cosseted by warmth and luxury.
They are easy to use. To inflate, simply open the inflate valve and allow the foam to rebound back to its original form (it's good to note that with it's first usethe mat will not self-inflate due to being rolled from factory. It will need to be left inflated for the foam to relax), thus drawing air into the mat. The mat includes a minipump to add more air if the mat isn’t to your preferred firmness, or ifyou are justin a bit more of a hurry (whilst it is self-inflating to a degree, the mini pump really does help give it that little extra, so don't forget it at home!). Simply attach it to the inflate valve and perform a bit of "CPR". Alternatively, if after a few minutes you find that your bed is too firm, pressure can be fine-tuned by opening the inflation value and poking your finger inside whilst lay on the mat; a few gentle taps on the internal valve seal should do the trick. Once you have achieved your desired firmness, close the valve back up and it's off to sleep.
Pack down is now a lot quicker anda lotless faff as Expedhaveincreased the size of thedeflation value and updated the storage sack to allow for sideentry. Just like your sleeping bag, if you aren’t using the mat for some time we recommend that it's stored unrolled with the valves open (under a bed for instance) to ensure the internal foam retains its expansion.
Most inflatable mats are straightforward to deflate and roll up and the Megamat is no different, just watch the video below for complete pack down instructions.
