What are the Synchilla Pants?
Ever heard of the classic Patagonia Synchilla Fleece? Well, they now have matching trousers! The Synchilla Pants are fleecy trousers designed for optimum comfort on leisurely days at home or even hitting the road in the van.
What are they made of?
These trousers comprise soft recycled polyester double-sided fleece with an anti-pilling finish to help reduce general signs of wear, enabling them to last even longer. The back pocket is constructed with recycled nylon faille and a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent) for extra protection.
Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) used in earlier DWRs can't 'break down', so once they reach nature (usually via water waste from factories), they stay out in the environment and contaminate living organisms, working their way up the food chain. PFC's are suspected carcinogens and have been known to affect reproduction and hormone production in mammals. For these reasons, many brands are now using PFC-free alternatives to reduce the impact manufacturing has on our beautiful planet.
This product is also made in a Fair Trade Factory™, giving Patagonia more control of the operations in the factories they choose to work with. Patagonia proudly offers more Fair Trade styles than any other apparel brand in the current market. But how does it work? Patagonia pays a premium for every item made in one of these factories, and this money goes directly to the factory workers. A democratically elected committee of Fair Trade workers will decide how this extra money gets spent in each Fair Trade factory. The program also promotes worker health and safety, and social and environmental compliance, while encouraging healthier dialogue between workers and management.
What are their features?
A drawstring waist gives plenty of allowance and adjustment around the midsection, while cuffs around the ankles cinch volume around the lower leg.
Zipped hand pockets are ideal for carrying small essentials such as a mobile phone, keys or cash. There's also a zipped rear pocket on one side of the trousers for extra storage.
