What is the Parsec?
Part of Osprey's sustainable Life Series, the Parsec is a functional backpack made with bluesign® approved and GRS-certified materials. It's the perfect backpack for everyday life, whether that's commuting to work each day, seeing friends at the weekend or taking the kids for a day out.
What is it made of?
This pack is crafted with an assortment of eco-friendly materials, including 420D Recycled Nylon, 210D Recycled Nylon Honey Comb Contrast and 600D Recycled Polyester Zebra fabric, containing a total of 23 recycled plastic 500ml bottles combined.
The combination of nylon and polyester creates a lightweight yet super durable face that can withstand abrasion and daily use just as well as non-recycled materials.
These materials are also bluesign® approved, ensuring that they are safe for the environment, consumers and workers involved in producing them, and GRS-certified (Global Recycling Standard) to verify the amount of recycled materials these fabrics contain.
Materials are treated with a PFC/PFAS-free DWR (Durable Water Repellent), helping to keep harmful chemicals out of our environment while maintaining a fantastic level of performance. DWR's add water resistance to the fabric, protecting it from water, light rain or snow. However, this doesn't make it fully waterproof, so if you're heading out in a downpour, you might want to add a raincover over the top.
What backsystem does it use?
This is a much less techy pack than others in the Osprey range, therefore, it hasn't got such a techy backsystem either. However, it does have an AirSpeed™ backpanel that creates a cavity for air to flow through for maximum ventilation.

What features does it have?
The Parsec is built with a clever kickstand frame that allows the pack to stand freely without support - a really handy feature if you need to place the bag down but don't want all your bits and pieces falling out (although, let's be real, who wants that?).
Shoulder straps are lightly padded for comfort and can be adjusted on either side. If you're in a hurry and don't have time to mess around putting the bag on, there's a grab handle at the top that allows you to grab it and run.
The main compartment can be accessed using a zip fastening that is easy to use and reliably secure. Inside is a built-in padded laptop sleeve that gives you the option to store a work or personal laptop and have reassurance it's well protected.
There's a front panel organiser pocket for storing smaller items like stationery, a wallet or purse, phone or keys, and a zippered front panel pocket that is ideal for baby wipes, doggy bags or a cheeky snack.
Side compression straps allow you to compact all your possessions and get rid of any dead space, helping to prevent your belongings from uncomfortably sloshing around inside as you're on the move.
