What is it made of?
This long-sleeved t-shirt combines RWS-certified merino wool and recycled polyester yarn.
Merino wool is renowned for its fantastic performance properties, being naturally soft, breathable, fast-drying, and odour-resistant; you'll be grateful for it on a hot day! It's also effective at regulating temperature, keeping you warm during the winter and cool during the summer, making it ideal for wearing all year round. Wool is a more responsible choice than newly made, conventional materials and performs incredibly well (if not better). It's biodegradable, renewable, and completely natural, avoiding using fossil fuels in production (unlike synthetic materials like polyester).
All of the virgin wool sourced by Patagonia is certified with the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). The RWS certification helps improve animal welfare while preserving and protecting land health by assessing the welfare of the sheep that the wool came from and the land they graze on. The RWS also requires all parties, from farmer to seller, to meet the standard, leaving no stone unturned to offer complete transparency.
Of course, using recycled polyester also reduces the demand for new, raw materials and helps keep useable resources in the loop.
The fabric is also bluesign® approved, meaning it's manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
This product is also made in a Fair Trade Factory™, giving Patagonia more control of the operations in the factories they choose to work with. Patagonia proudly offers more Fair Trade styles than any other apparel brand in the current market. But how does it work? Patagonia pays a premium for every item made in one of these factories, and this money goes directly to the factory workers. A democratically elected committee of Fair Trade workers will decide how this extra money gets spent in each Fair Trade factory. The program also promotes worker health and safety, and social and environmental compliance, while encouraging healthier dialogue between workers and management.
What are its features?
Despite the complex nature of the material, this is a pretty simple t-shirt! It has set-in sleeves designed to enhance movement and improve overall fit, plus side vents with a slightly dropped tail for extra coverage and airflow. The back neck yoke features a hanger loop, which is ideal for camping and road trips in the van when you want to hang your tee to dry or air out.
The t-shirt is finished with a P-6 logo on the left hem, allowing you to rep your favourite brand wherever you go.
