What is it made of?
Patagonia constructed this fleece using different weights of breathable Polartec® Power Grid® fleece and Capilene® Thermal Weight Baselayer material with built-in HeiQ Pure odour control technology.
Polartec Power Grid® fleece comprises polyester and spandex to deliver premium stretch and softness. This material uses a unique, bi-component patented knit that strengthens performance efficiency by increasing both warmth and breathability. The knit uses geometric patterns that help improve packability and moisture-wicking performance, helping to avoid sweat or condensation build-up if you're breathing heavily or working hard.
The Capilene® Thermal Weight Baselayer material provides exceptional warmth and breathability with virtually no bulk, allowing for enhanced mobility and easier layering over this fleece.
HeiQ® Pure odour neutralising technology uses non-ionic, silver-based, antimicrobial odour control and achieves a high antimicrobial efficacy from a low dosage. It allows you to benefit from all the technical material performance without spoiling the fresh mountain air. Plus, it means you can get away with washing this fleece less, meaning not only do you have less laundry to do, but you save more water, too!
This product is also made in a Fair Trade Factory™, giving Patagonia more control of the operations in the factories they choose to work with. Patagonia proudly offers more Fair Trade styles than any other apparel brand in the current market. But how does it work? Patagonia pays a premium for every item made in one of these factories, and this money goes directly to the factory workers. A democratically elected committee of Fair Trade workers will decide how this extra money gets spent in each Fair Trade factory. The program also promotes worker health and safety, and social and environmental compliance, while encouraging healthier dialogue between workers and management.
What are the features?
The hood is constructed with the lighter weight Capilene® material, ensuring it is helmet-compatible and that good visibility can be achieved underneath the hood for more technical pursuits.
A slim-fit pullover design sits closer to the body for optimum warmth and temperature regulation. You can ventilate this fleece using the deep front centre zip, which also features a soft kissing-welt zipper garage at the chin, which prevents the fastening from catching or rubbing.
A longer torso provides extra coverage and stays tucked in underneath a harness or backpack waistbelt, helping prevent it from riding up on the move.
For storage, you get a zipped left-chest pocket with an air-permeable mesh pocket bag that encourages extra ventilation when left open and empty.
Offset shoulder seams sit comfortably underneath backpack straps, reducing the risk of chafing for more extended missions. Low-profile thumb holes and a low bulk hem provide added coverage in colder conditions and make for easy layering. The thumb holes also prevent the sleeves from riding up when warm.
